Aberdeen will once again be lit up by fireworks this Hogmanay as Aberdeen City Council confirms the longest light display of all of Scotland’s cities on December 31.

The celebratory event to see in the New Year forms part of the council’s Winter Festival programme and will offer free music and entertainment for crowds before the countdown to 2015.

The rooftop of His Majesty’s Theatre will then be bathed in light as a fireworks display will be fired from the top of the theatre at midnight.

Lasting about 12 minutes, the council says it will be the longest display to take place on Hogmanay across Scotland’s seven cities.
