Aberdeen's library and information service operates from 17 libraries across the city. The Central Library, located on Rosemount Viaduct in the heart of Aberdeen, acts as headquarters and houses the Children's Library, Media Centre and Information Centre in addition to an Adult Lending department. The Home Service delivers to library members who cannot easily access a library and there is a regular drop-in library service at Kingswells community centre. 

Membership of Aberdeen City Libraries is open to anyone who lives, works or studies within Aberdeen City or Aberdeenshire and guest membership for PC use is open to visitors. A wide range of lending material and free Wi-Fi and PC access is available in all libraries and a number of premium online resources offering information on topics including family and local history, health, education and business can be accessed for free with a library membership.

 

 

 

 

The Local Studies Service, based in the Central Library, offers advice and assistance to library members wishing to trace their ancestry or find out more about Aberdeen's fascinating history. The Silver City Vault service has an online photography archive at  showcasing a wide range of historical images of Aberdeen. A dedicated Business & Enterprise service provides assistance to new and growing businesses and a Europe Direct Information Centre in Central Library offers access to information and assistance relating to the European Union.

Events such as free story and rhyme sessions for children, author visits and workshops are regularly held in Aberdeen City Libraries and are open to the public.
